Songdo ( stopover near Seoul)

Songdo turned out to be a completely new city. It was built from scratch less than ten years ago. We were staying next to the central park and this morning we enjoyed a stroll round the artificial waterway. One photo illustrates how it is kept full. There were canoes, electric boats and bikes for hire and cafes everywhere you looked. Our flight to Almaty, capital of Kazakhstan, left at 3.30pm from Incheon.

It was a six hour flight going west and so the sunset lasted forever. Our destination on this leg was actually Biskek, capital of Kyrgyzstan and so we left the airport by bus for a 5 hr drive.

About 2am we arrived at the border and spent about an hour walking from booths to booths and getting or giving various little slips of paper
